When I think of Atlanta music promotion, I usually think of locally based promotions. But Atlanta is a big city and has a lot of music-industry workers. Let’s take a look at the top three.

Nashville: Nashville is a great place to start for anyone who wants to work in a really big city, where metropolis people who speak one of many languages seem to be very comfortable. Just about everyone is out of work and has a lifestyle that’s mostly the antithesis of “the Americans.”

Country: There’s always a “country” section at a Nashville mall, which is a good place to find young, country-loving people. Unfortunately, they tend to have come from smaller towns, where country music wasn’t as popular.

Detroit: There’s also Detroit, which is, quite frankly, pretty “tough” on people who are trying to promote hip hop. A lot of Detroit’s promotion works revolve around “white trash” rapper Chris Brown, who is probably the only person worth knowing in the city. Even more unfortunate, this works just fine for the type of “urban people” who frequent his concert tours.

Atlanta: Atlanta isn’t the most famous city in the world, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a big music market. From rap to R&B, Atlanta boasts many music promotions workers, some from Georgia, some from somewhere else.

Atlanta music promotion, especially locally based, is another story, though. The fact that Atlanta is so small makes it tough to get a record deal. However, there are some local promoters who do a decent job of getting their music on the radio.

Atlanta music promotion is a bit of a double-edged sword. With Atlanta’s big city popularity, promotion for locally based music seems to suffer somewhat. However, with Atlanta’s larger reach, and its many successful promotions, the end result is a diverse city with an incredible music scene.

The Atlanta area is great for two major reasons. First, it’s a city that offers a variety of venues, for venues ranging from little clubs in the suburbs to huge downtown concert halls.

Atlanta also has music promotions that feature both local artists and international artists. These promotions are well-staffed, with people that understand that successful promotion needs to include both types of artists.

Also, the overall vibe of the city is something that is hard to ignore. From the hustle and bustle of downtown to the blue sky of the Atlanta Beltline, there’s a sense of “urban cool” in the area.

These are just a few of the many local promotions. If you’re thinking about moving to Atlanta, consider having a specialist check out the music industry and the city’s culture before you come.
