DANVILLE, PA – To help seniors understand all their Medicare options, Geisinger Health Plan is hosting Medicare education sessions now through the first week of December at locations across Scranton and Wilkes-Barre. 

Seniors can review their Medicare coverage options and switch plans during the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP), which runs from Oct. 15 to Dec. 7. Medicare recipients with standard Medicare can add additional benefits through private Medicare Advantage plans. 

Recent studies show that nearly 60 percent of Medicare recipients don’t evaluate coverage options. The Geisinger Health Plan sessions are designed to help older adults examine their options and choose the best coverage.

“Understanding health plan options can provide people with better access to care, so they can live a healthier life,” said Roger van Baaren, chief sales officer for Geisinger Health Plan. “Even those who are at or nearing retirement and are still employed can greatly benefit from learning about all the options available to them.” 

The free, one-on-one sessions will be held:

Nov. 16 9 AM Geisinger 65 Forward Health Center, 20 Diana Lane – Hazleton

Nov. 17 9:30 AM Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott,16 Radcliffe Drive – Scranton

Nov. 22 9:30 AM American Legion, 730 Memorial Highway – Dallas

Nov. 23 1 PM Geisinger 65 Forward Health Center, 20 Diana Lane – Hazleton

Nov. 29 9:30 AM The Sidney and Pauline Jewish Community Center, 613 SJ Strauss Lane – Kingston

Dec. 1 9:30 AM Geisinger Health Plan Insurance Store 2266, Wilkes-Barre Township Marketplace – Wilkes-Barre
